Our newest corporate member is a British company called ´UK Language Training Services LIMITED´ or, as it will be referred to from now on, UKLTS. UKLTS is a training service wholly dedicated to teaching English to students from all over the world and for all reasons and uses.

We are a Language teacher with a twist. Our intensive mix of immersive and structured learning will be hosted at a variety of top UK tourist destinations, and you, the student, will only need to look after your transportation to and from the venue, and suppers during the 1, 2, 3, or 4 weeks that you stay with us.

Students will speak English for the entire days spent in the program beginning with breakfast; discussing the days plan and current news events. After breakfast we proceed to the ´classroom´ where you and 5 other people will work in a team with your very own language coach. The language coach will correct your spoken grammar structures, phrasing, and your pronunciation, as well as explaining the non-verbal message senders influenced by culture. Remember the principle of Para-language is that ¨It is not what you say, but how you say it¨. Mid-morning coffee breaks and snacks along with lunch will be provided during the 5 hours of daily class work, then, it is off to explore.

We, in conjunction with seasoned event planners, have deliberately chosen popular locations with much to see and do which should satisfy everyone´s taste for cultural and historical experiences, all in English. Students can easily add 1 language level in two weeks with our intensive program.

Along with a pre-program information pack, the participants will receive all accommodation for the program duration, breakfast, mid-morning snacks and lunch.
Each team of 5 will have an individual team language coach for perpetual reinforcement of the structures learned, and corrective feedback (the language coaches will spend from breakfast time to the evening meal with their teams).
Each participant will be provided with a tablet pc loaded with program materials and apps to use for practice and reinforcement.
Every student will, with their coach, jointly write a post-program English learning strategy, so that they do not slide back and lose the new language skills they have acquired in the program,
…and, they keep the tablets as a gift from us, which is included in the welcome pack.

Our teachers are native English speakers or native-level English speakers who also have earned a variety of degrees, awards and experience, and are carefully vetted by us to ensure they have the right skills and the right attitude to fit into our program and give the student the best opportunity to succeed.

Whether you need to improve your English to study abroad in an English-speaking country, or you need English to emigrate and live in an English-speaking country, perhaps you need English for travel, or, you need to improve you professional English skills for work, you will not be disappointed with our program. We want you to come back, and to send your family and friends.

UKLTS has designed an English Retreat for Professionals as well. We want these experiences to teach, energize and motivate you and, above all, in all of our events, we want you to have an absolutely great time!

Visit our website at http://www.uklts.co.uk and then ring us and let us help you to choose the best way to improve your English.

Everyday I hear news of the closure of another ¨good¨ company.  I searched today for companies who had closed since 2008 and was quite shocked to read about some I thought of as recession-proof.  But, is it the recession that is responsible for the closures, or some other factors?  I was surprised to discover that many believe it was our leadership, rigidity, and paradigm paralysis that caused our failure; more than the recessions.

The average life of a corporation in North America is 14 years and growing shorter.

Good companies survive economic swings and prepare themselves to be ready for the post-crisis upswing.

Good companies emerge, in the first place, by being at the right place, with the right idea at the right time.

Most good companies begin opportunistically, not as a result of years of careful crafting and planning.  It is an art to be able to spot a good idea and exploit it.

However, as the economic situations change, mature companies often find it difficult to change their company cultures, their outlook, structure or processes; their way of doing things.  Under these circumstances, it is likely some of these companies will fail.  Research has uncovered six major elements of failure or massive transformation:

  • Capital Markets – currency fluctuations, rises in interest rates
  • Technology – continual advances in technology force changes and create complications
  • Globalization – when companies expand into new markets, the level of business complexity increases
  • Customers – their needs change, now faster than ever before
  • Competition – is a moving, fluid target making it easy to lag behind and lose out
  • Regulation/Deregulation – governments deregulate industries changing the rules we were previously so good at and they add more levels of complex regulations

To survive all of the changes that befall business today, our companies have to develop a flexible, changeable and adaptable culture.  We have to keep our eyes and ears wide open and tap into the market´s  consciousness to understand what is happening, and proact to it. Review your approach to change particularly with regard to how you communicate the changes coming, who leads the new change, and what is in it for those who adapt and embrace the changes. While I would like to think of us as being proactive and flexible, real change usually happens because we are forced into it.

Ask yourself and your associates often, what´s different and what must we do to protect our position, advance our organization, and reach our goals?  Effectively managing change is the ´name of the game´.
